He was born in Piraeus on April 1953. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from University of Bolton, Institute of Technology, U.K. (6/1978), an M.Sc Degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics (3/1980) and Ph.D. Degree (12/1982) in Electronic Instrumentation and Measurements - thesis title: "A Galvanomagnetic Method for the Non-Destructive testing of Metals", from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology – UMIST,
He has been teaching assistant in the Solid State and Electronics laboratories and has given lectures on the subjects of electrical engineering and electronics – UMIST. He has also lectured at TEI of Piraeus as senior lecturer the subject of “Electronics” - 4th semester -, Department of Electrical Engineering.
He has worked as Research and Development Engineer at the Hall Effect Monitoring Equipment Ltd, Skemersdale, Lanc,s - U.K. on electronic measurement systems. He has been trained at the Greek Telecommunication Organization (OTE) on Electronic Local Exchange. He has also worked at GETEN, the Research Center of the Greek Navy, on the design and development of Electronic War fair and Electronic Counter Measures Systems.
In 1986 he was elected lecturer at the Hellenic Naval Academy, and in 1996 he was elected Professor of the Chair of Electronics II and Director of the Electronics Lab.
Today he belongs to the Division of Battle Systems, Naval Operations, Sea Studies, Navigation and Electronics & Telecommunications of H.N.A. He is the Divisions elected Director since 2004 and Dean of the Academy since 2011.
