Abstract |
In this paper a new Algorithm, called ‘Dynamic Storage Method’, that is aimed to reduce the size of signaling messages is described. In particular its application on two different RRC (Radio
Resource Control) [1] messages, the RRC Connection Setup and RRC Radio Bearer Setup, is described. As a result of this application, the
message size and the duration of each of these two RRC messages, on air interface, is reduced by around 67%. Another major advantage of such
Algorithm in comparison to prior Art, mainly to the hard coding solution, is that every vendor or operator can use its own parameters.
It should be noted that the two RRC messages studied in this paper are exchanged during UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)
Call Setup, however the ‘Dynamic Storage Method’ apply to other RRC procedures i.e. handover, downgrade or upgrade of throughput of
mobile. More importantly the proposed Method could apply to other UMTS protocols i.e. NBAP (Node B Application Part) [2], ALCAP
(Access Link Control Application) [3] or to other than UMTS protocols i.e. LTE (Long Term Evolution) and others. |
