Title A novel radix-4 structure for computing IFFT in MCM system
Authors Mr. Jafar Karimi, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran
Abstract Wireless multimedia systems require higher data rate and robust transmission of information. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is considered for the wireless communication systems. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is one of the key building blocks to implement OFDM transceiver systems and its computational complexity is too high for cost-efficient implementations. The large block size results in heavy computational load in running programmable digital signal processors (DSPs). In this paper, we derive computationally efficient fast algorithm for the IFFT. The proposed algorithm requires only 22% number of multiplications compared with the conventional butterfly approach. The proposed algorithm can also be applied to the technology of Discrete Multi Tone (DMT) which is the processing kernel of the Digital Subscriber Line (XDSL) systems.
