In this paper, a joint delay/AOA/carrier estimator for long code CDMA systems is developed. Channel parameter estimation is useful in space-time processing systems and wireless location systems that employ hybrid AOA/TOA technology. The estimator makes use of a certain antenna array element setup organized especially for the estimating process. The estimator incorporates the use of the ESPRIT method to estimate the delays, AOAs and carrier frequencies of each user and pairs the estimated parameters automatically. It also avoids the computational burden of a matching, or pairing, procedure and does not require the use of a Fourier transform to aid the estimation of the delays. Further, the algorithm performs the estimation directly without the need of searching over a specified range to estimate any of the parameters. Simulations are presented to show the performance of the estimator.
