Abstract |
The main objective of Radio Network Planning (RNP) is to build a network that provides sufficient coverage and capacity, meets the quality requirements, and allows for flexible future system growth. A better design is the one that requires a lower number of network equipments and resources. Therefore, the main issues to be considered while planning a WiMAX network are area coverage, user capacity, quality of service guarantees, and cost. The major blocks of WiMAX RNP are coverage analysis, capacity analysis, and frequency planning. In this paper study, we mainly focus on the WiMAX RNP. The area of interest studied is Beirut city. This paper deals deal with the fixed wireless type of WiMAX based upon the 802.16d standard, where the receivers are placed above rooftops, and the mobile type of WiMAX based upon the 802.16e standard, where the receivers can be anywhere in the area of interest, including inside the buildings. |
