In this paper a new NBAP (NodeB Application Part) [1] algorithm, called ‘Dynamic Storage Method on NBAP’, is proposed. By applying this simple algorithm on two particular NBAP messages, exchanged during a UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) call setup, it follows that the size of the first message ‘Radio Link Setup Request’ is reduced by 56% whereas the size of the second message ‘Radio Link Reconfiguration Prepare’ is reduced by 92%. The same algorithm could apply as well to NBAP messages that are exchanged in other scenarios like soft handover procedure.
